Like Lightning

Like candles in a basement room
Points of light that pierce the gloom
Subtle traces of her essence
Linens stained in reminiscence

Like torches on a cavern wall
Smoldering fronds suppress the pall
Memories of loves intents
Sensed as perfumed remnants

Like lightning in the evening sky
Glimpses of the storm imply
Lust and passion so intense
Yet left behind in such gentle scents
